Job Purpose
The Commercial Manager – Banking & Finance will be responsible for revenue growth for FT Live globally, focussing on generating business from service and solutions providers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for an allotted revenue target and increasing the size and scope of our existing events in growth markets as well as identifying new opportunities. The role will focus on rapidly developing and maintaining a robust commercial pipeline for both conference sponsorship and client-tailored events within the growth markets globally while working collaboratively with both the events delivery team and other commercial teams around the business. Meeting clients face-to-face, with a good amount of international travel will be a key part of the role.

Responsibilities
- Management of an annual business revenue target
- Responsible for all stages of the commercial cycle, including: opportunity identification, commercial consultation, proposal creation, contract negotiation, and agreements
- New business generation
- Responsible for maintaining and strategically growing a number of key accounts
- Exceed monthly commercial activity levels
- Prospect, present, and agree new business in excess of annual targets
- Analyse territory in assigned sectors and prioritise business travel
- Help create an annual calendar for Technology events for FT Live
- Develop sales account plans, proposals and secure signed contracts for new business
- Work closely with events delivery team, on events themes, target audience and scheduling
- Attend and network at industry events, becoming "known" in the industry sector as the key contact for FT Live
Essential Skills
- A minimum of 1 years' sales experience
- Good level of initiative and self-motivation, pro-active
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Proven sales track record of surpassing sales targets
- Commercial awareness and ability to adapt sales approach based on industry sector and function
- Awareness of wider industry segment business issues and ability to converse credibly with clients on a range of national and international business topics
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to use influencing strategies to gain commitment
- Degree level education
Preferred Skills
- Experience selling sponsorship in commercial events business
- Experience selling to senior levels of management
- Proven ability to deliver new business against performance related targets
- Demonstrated ability to adapt sales approach based on client's needs
- Understanding of wider industry segment business issues and ability to converse credibly with clients on a range of national and international business topics
- Sponsorship sales experience
